Erling Stordahl

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erling Stordahl (1923-94), Norwegian farmer and singer. Best known for the around 120 songs he recorded throughout 17 years from 1951 together with Gunnar Engedahl(1919-1969). They met at Norges Blindeforbund (association for the blind). Together they both volunteered for the organization. The yearly "Ridderrennet" at Beitostölen in Norway was established by Erling Stordahl. They made their first hit as a duo in 1951, produced by Odeon. Erling Stordahl wrote many of the songs, but it was Gunnar Engedahl's warm and beautiful voice that made the duo so famous and popular. Their songs are genuine and "down to earth" and perhaps the closest we will come to "real Norwegian country".[citation needed]
