Erl is a municipality in the Kufstein district and is located 15 km north of Kufstein at the western border to Bavaria, Germany. The village is the most northern location of Tyrol and has 1429 inhabitants.
Furthermore it has 16 parts. Settlement already began in the 3rd century but Erl was mentioned for the first time in documents in 788. In Erl Passion play is held every 6 years which started in 1613.
