[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Vc118.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Vc118.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Hpshot2.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Hpshot2.JPG. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Alpha Gamma Delta

Regarding your contribution to Alpha Gamma Delta if you notice further on down the page the designation is specifically 'fraternity for women' so instead of a sorority it goes by fraternity. This is not just some random designation so please double check before you change something like that. Thanks. --ImmortalGoddezz 00:14, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spaceballs

Hi Eridani, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm afraid I just removed your addition to Spaceballs analyzing the implications of the relationship between Lone Starr and Dark Helmet (it's quite a coincidence that I stumbled upon it mere hours after you added it).

Anyway, to get a bit geeky about this, the reason your conclusions don't hold is the following. Here's the original statement:

Lone Starr's "father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate," (which means Helmet was either Starr's cousin's roommate, or even Starr's own roommate, if he had one cousin on his father's side)

Okay, let's take this a step at a time:

  • "father's brother's" = "uncle's"
  • "uncle's nephew's" could just be "cousin's", but this could equally well refer to a nephew by marriage of the given uncle.
  • even if it is just "cousin's", that gives us "cousin's cousin's former roommate". Now "cousin's cousin" doesn't necessarily mean "cousin": my cousins on my mother's side and my cousins on my father's side are clearly not cousins of one another.

So the most we can simplify the original statement, while retaining full generality is "uncle's nephew's cousin's former roommate". --Saforrest 18:45, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox For Speedy Deletion

A tag has been placed on User:UBX/User photoshop-1,User:UBX/User photoshop-2,User:UBX/User photoshop-3,User:UBX/User photoshop-4 and User:UBX/User photoshop-5 requesting that they be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

A template for all skill levels has been created, and so renders these obsolete

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Rugby471 16:55, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suicide box?

Did you make that box? I agree that its deletion is unjustified. WooyiTalk to me? 21:35, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox

Where was the suicide box's original name before being deleted? I can submit it to deletion review. WooyiTalk to me? 22:31, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suicide box compromise...

I have created User:Wooyi/sdissues as a compromise to the suicide box, and no one has objected to it as of now. Maybe if you wants to use it feel free to do so. Regards. WooyiTalk to me? 21:15, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of songs about suicide

Hi,

I noticed you recently created List of songs about suicide, but have you seen Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of songs about suicide and Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 June 15 (at the bottom of the page)? Tim Q. Wells 01:05, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Okay, you can use {{db-author}} if you want. Tim Q. Wells 01:42, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Nobel-medal.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nobel-medal.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 02:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Better source request for Image:Botanpic.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Botanpic.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. -- SilentAria talk 05:19, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ectoplasmic swirl.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ectoplasmic swirl.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Licky

The article Licky has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:56, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
