I regard "the dominance of difficult people, trolls, and their enablers" (Larry Sanger) as a grave threat to Wikipedia. I finished a course last term with a longer essay entitled Wikipedia as a Means of Internet Trolling – I found lots of material when surfing here (I'll publish the essay on the web, as soon as I find the text). All in all, I think that Wikipedia was initially a great idea, but its problems are numerous. The core problem is actually the unwillingness of Wikipedia's leadership to give up old fetishes (anonymous editing, lack of any kind of academic hierarchy and so forth). By now, the project seems to be completely overrun by different troll gangs, e.g the infamous Cyber-USSR grouping (see a list of their victims here). With regard to this, I think that to
