wrong wrong wrong. erik comes from old germanic (which was spoken in the TODAY countries of scandinavia, netherlands and germany.

it comes from AHR RIKIS for an native german speaker its still interpretable what it means. ahr = ehr in modern german (honour) rikis = reich (rich or realm, depends on context) so the name means: rich of honour or the honoured of the realm, thats not so clear

anything else is just..wrong ;)

[edit] scandinavian myth

what are your sources (other than fantasy) to state that Eric was introduced in England by the Scandinavian before the Normands? Éric is a common name in France including (but not limited to) Normandie. Shame On You 08:50, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

I may also add that Persian ( Fârsi ) is such an old language that it can claim being the source of this name, but, that you should already know!

of course i knew about farsi, at least as much as you know this word means "stuffed" in French cook language! Shame On You 10:42, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
