From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is probably fake. The author is nicknamed Eris like a planet. Somebody probably wants to introduce his own symbol to the whole world through Wikipedia.
- No it is real, ask the IAU. I just registered to be nice and contribute. Thanks for the appreciation. Eris 18:23, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
- Any proof?
- I've removed this image from the places it appears on the english Wikipedia until there's more evidence that it's actually under consideration anywhere. DenisMoskowitz 13:49, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
- Sure it's not an astronomical symbol. Minor planets were given symbols (like planets) until the 1850s when the number of asteroids grew up to 15-20 and non symbolic designations were adopted. Eris has been decovered in the 2000s so that it's sure there is no official symbol. Régis Lachaume 00:19, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
