Ophavsretten for selve kunstværket er udløbet fordi værket blev lavet for flere århundreder siden. Fotografiet blev taget før 1.1.1969 og er derfor PD efter svensk lov. Den tilsvarende skæringsdato efter dansk lov er 1.1.1970.

The copyright of the original tapestry has expired since the original work of art was created centuries ago. The photo was taken before 1 Jan 1969, and it is consequently in the public domain according to Swedish law. Under Danish law, the simliar cutoff for simple photos is 1 Jan 1970.

Public domain This Swedish photograph is free to use either of these cases:
  • For photographic works (fotografiska verk), the image is public domain:
a) if the photographer died before January 1, 1944, or
b) if the photographer is not known, and can not be traced, and the image was created before January 1, 1944.
  • For photographic pictures (fotografiska bilder), such as images of the press, the image is public domain if created before January 1, 1969 (transitional regulations 1994).
The photographer, if known, should always be attributed.

Public domain This image is in the public domain because the Danish Consolidated Act on Copyright of 2003 specifies (§70, 2) that all photographic images not considered to be "works of art" become public domain 50 years after they were created.
