They feed on coral polyps, gorgonians, algae, polychaete worms and small crustaceans.[2][1]

[edit] Habitat

Eritrean butterflyfish are usually found in pairs or in small groups over coral and rubble areas from 1m to 30m depth.[2][1]

[edit] In the aquarium

This fish fares well in the aquarium and so is sought-after by hobbyists.[2]

Chaetodon madagaskariensis, Chaetodon mertensii and Chaetodon xanthurus are similar species with different ranges.[1]
