Erika Alcocer Luna, or simply Erika, was born on July 19, 1974 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She rose to fame by becoming the winner of the second generation of La Academia.

Her voice is considered to be mezzosoprano, but its register is similar to a soprano because of her ample range of shades and vocal registry. She sang "All By Myself" in the same tone and range as Celine Dion.
