Erik Gnupsson

Erik Gnupsson or Eiríkr Gnúpsson, also known as Henricus (late 11th to early 12th centuries), was born in Iceland. He became a clergyman and later was appointed the Bishop of Greenland, residing at Garðar.
In 1121 Erik reportedly made several trips to Northwest Vinland to visit Christian people living there. However, it is not known exactly where this was. Although Vinland is the name the Vikings gave to North America, there are disputes about how far inland they went.
