Eric Rodwell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eric Rodwell (born 1957) is a multiple world champion in contract bridge, winning the Bermuda Bowl representing the U.S. four times. He is one of only ten players who have won the so-called triple crown of bridge: The Bermuda Bowl, the World Open Pairs and the World Team Olympiad.
For decades he has been in a regular partnership with Jeff Meckstroth and together, nicknamed "Meckwell", they are one of the most successful bridge partnerships of all time. They are well known for playing an aggressive and very detailed system called RM (for Rodwell-Meckstroth) Precision, of which Rodwell is the principal author. Although he has not actively pursued masterpoints as a goal, he is one of the all-time top masterpoint holders in the American Contract Bridge League, and won the Barry Crane Trophy for winning the most masterpoints in a year in 2004.
Eric has been credited with the invention of the support double.
Eric is a full time bridge professional and currently lives in Clearwater Beach, Florida with his wife Donna. Eric also has two children from a previous marriage, twins Jeffrey and Sara (aged 22). In his spare time he likes to play the piano.
