Eric Lyons (19121980) was a British designer and architect. He was famous for the development of forward looking housing communities in England in the latter part of the 20th century. His partnership with Span Developments Limited lead to building of over 73 Span estates. Span estates were typified by sharp Modernist designs with space, light and well-planned interiors, tempered with traditonal features such as hung tiles and stock brick. Lavishly landscaped communal gardens were also a common feature of Lyons' designs. One of his most famous developments was New Ash Green in Kent in South East England. Marsham Lodge in Gerrards Cross was the last Span Developments 'houses within a garden' to be completed in 1969.
