Eric Hoffman

Eric Hoffman (aka Eric Von Hoffman) (born May 12, 1963) is an American actor, writer, producer and comedian best known for his work on the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show.

Hoffman attended Columbia College Chicago, where he studied acting and comedy alongside other future Mr. Show alumni such as Jay Johnston, Dino Stamatopoulos and Scott Adsit.

Hoffman was a member of Chicago's Annoyance Theatre, where he wrote, directed and performed in such comedies as Brainwarp the Baby Eater, Goombahs!, Fingerball, The Stinky Onion Gang and Dumbass Leaves the Carnival. Hoffman collaborated with Gary Rudoren and Mike Monterastelli on the show The Idiotic Death of Two Fools, which they performed at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh.

He left Chicago to write, produce and act in his first feature film, Talent, which won the Breakthrough Film award at the Saguaro Film Festival. The cast featured many members of the Chicago comedy scene, including Matt Besser, Matt Walsh, Jim Zulevic, Pat Walsh and Mick Napier.

Hoffman wrote and starred in "Brainwarp", released on DVD by FilmThreat.

Hoffman appeared in the film My Big Fat Independent Movie as Harvey the hit man, where he shot Pauly Shore's head off with a bazooka.

Hoffman co-created, co-wrote and starred in "Nerd Hunter 3004", made for the Channel 101 pilot.

His first book, Comedy By The Numbers, which he wrote with Rudoren, was published by McSweeneys in May 2007.

Hoffman can currently be seen with Jay Johnston as the German comedy team Der Snuz Bruders (The Snuz Brothers) in a series of short films on Superdeluxe.com.
