Eric Broadbent was the first winner of PEI music award for urban recording of the year 2006, for the song "the Girl at Work", from the album he wears his emotions on his sleeve. First person from PEI, to be nominated for an ECMA in the hip hop/rap category, in the 2006 ECMA's in Charlottetown ,PEI, and also performed at the hip hop showcase that year, with the other nominees. Nominated for a 2nd ECMA in 2007, for urban recording of the year, for the song "pop star rehab", on his way to winning his 2nd PEI music award. His nominations are viewable on ecma.com, and he is currently being added to a book about the history of PEI, being recognized as one of the first urban act from the island.
