Erdini

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Erdini ('Ernaigh' in Irish) were one of the earliest known kingdoms or tribes in Ireland and are referred to in Ptolemy's Geography, written in the 2nd century. They were members of the Fir Bolg invasion.

In pre Christian times the area that became Bréifne was occupied by the Erdini who possessed the area bordering Lough Erne. At the start of the Christian era tribal groupings believed in or near Breifne include the Glasraighe, Masraige, Dartraige, Armhaighe, Gallraighe, the Fir Manach, and the Gailenga.
