ERAWATCH
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ERAWATCH is a European web-based service that presents information on national and regional research policies, players, organisations and programmes.
It has been designed to provide a strategic intelligence service, which supports evidence-based policy-making in the research field. It collects data, and offers reports and analysis, on research systems, organisations, policies and trends, as well as on the factors influencing them. The service provides access to greater knowledge of national and regional research systems, contributing to the realisation of the European Research Area (ERA). Information is collected with the support of the ERAWATCH Network of national organisations, specialised in gathering and analysing information relevant to research policy-making.
ERAWATCH currently covers the 27 European Union Member States, all countries associated with the European Community Research Framework Programme, and (for comparative purposes) Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and USA.
Information can be accessed on a country level. Users can customise the way data is presented and downloaded to them by registering with the service (My ERAWATCH). Users can also register and receive email alerts on new and updated ERAWATCH content.
ERAWATCH is a long-term joint initiative, carried out by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and the EU Joint Research Centre (JRC) Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS). The Office for Official Publications of the European Communities (Publications Office) provides the world wide web dissemination platform for ERAWATCH through the CORDIS (Community Research and Development Information Service) research information portal, ensuring easy public access to the service. ERAWATCH was launched in January 2007, and is funded through the European Community Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development. ERAWATCH and the logo are registered trademarks. Reproduction of content is authorised provided the source is acknowledged (European Communities, 2007).
