Equinox Fitness is a luxury fitness company with $225 million (USD) in revenues that has over 5,000 employees and 45 clubs, based out of New York City, with 150,000 members in seven states including the following cities:Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, San Mateo, Palo Alto, and Washington, DC. ^[1]

In addition to its regular clubs, Equinox operates two special clubs in New York and California that cost and offer more, such as lounges and high-tech cardio and strength equipment used by professional athletes. Equinox offers a "spa" environment (and spa services), four tiers of personal training (from couch potato to elite) and extensive yoga/Pilates classes.^[2]

Equinox charges from US$ 120 to US$ 170 per month to be a member. There are no long-term contracts and one can cancel at any time. There are four distinct levels of Personal Trainers available. Each higher level charges a higher per-session rate. ^[2]

"At Equinox we liked the soothing environment -- ambient lighting, silence, the buff crowd. The gym wasn't crowded on our Sunday afternoon visit, and we liked that towels were free and we could get services ranging from a massage to a healthy lunch on-site. The class mix was broad, but we were especially impressed with the variety of yoga and Pilates offerings." ^[2]
