The Oaks Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 4 furlongs and 10 yards (2,423 metres) at Epsom Downs Racecourse and takes place annually, presently in early June.

It was first run on May 14, 1779, one year before the introduction of the Derby Stakes. The race is named after The Oaks, a house leased to the 12th Earl of Derby which was located about 4 miles to the east of Epsom Downs. Lord Derby and his guests devised the race during a party at this house in 1778. The winner of the first running, Bridget, was owned by Lord Derby himself.

The Oaks is presently the third of five British races to be run during the year which are designated as "classics". These races are all restricted to three-year-olds, with two restricted to fillies only – the 1,000 Guineas and the Oaks. These are the first two legs of the Fillies' Triple Crown, which is completed by the final classic, the St. Leger Stakes. Seven horses have won all three races, most recently Oh So Sharp in 1985.

As with the other classics, the Oaks has inspired many similar races around the world, although not always matching the 1½ mile distance of the original version. Such national variations include the Prix de Diane, the Irish Oaks, the Preis der Diana and the Oaks d'Italia.
