If you are on my talk page to add a posting about deleting one of my uploads, don't waste your time. I will not dispute any deletions. I am tired of jumping through flaming hoops to justify an upload only to have the rules lawyers add even more restrictions, invalidating the upload with yet another set of flaming hoops. Just delete anything I have uploaded and enjoy your text-only encyclopedia.

[edit] Image source problem with Image:Palms elementary.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Palms elementary.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:13, 28 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 16:13, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- As I have said so many times before (see responses to above notifications), please go ahead and delete anything that I have uploaded. I am sick and tired of jumping through the increasingly restrictive hoops that all of the rules lawyers are strangling Wikipedia with. If people would spend more time working on the content of Wikipedia rather than squashing others' work, Wikipedia would be a much better reference work. Unfortunately, it is much easier to shoot holes in others' work than to produce their own. Enjoy your text only encyclopedia.

[edit] The Fox
Thanks for the nice photo of the Fox Theatre. I've been meaning to get around to that and you've saved me the trouble. I still need to take more pictures of the interior as we keep renovating it, but at least now we have a good lead photo. Are you in OC, too? If you're interested, there's a WikiProject covering Los Angeles and (for lack of a more specific project) Orange County, Riverside, etc. Kafziel Talk 17:54, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kudos on the picture. I got a new camera for Christmas and was giving it workout on New Years Day. Having a quality camera with quality lenses makes all the difference in the world!
- I live near OC in Lakewood (just north of Long Beach). I was actually out taking pictures of National Register of Historic Places sites and thought I would check to see if the Fox had one. Usually the sites I visit either already have a picture or don't have an article.
- I had looked at the LA project before but I haven't for a while. I may scan through the LA and OC categories again and see if any new articles have popped up that I can take pictures of.

[edit] Sac (biology)
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Sac (biology), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Scripps Hall
I placed the clean up and the wikify tag on Scripps Hall due to the fact that the article is so short. I would like to see more info on the specific topic. Thanks and Happy New Year!!! Dustihowe Talk 18:06, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- That is not the appropriate usage for those tags. To note that an article is short and could do with some more info, you would use an expand request tag.
- The cleanup tag is for articles that have poor grammar, poor formatting, incorrect spelling, etc.
- The wikify tag is for situation where the article doesn't follow Wikipedia conventions such as not having an introductory paragraph or not placing the article title in bold in the header. It is also used for requesting that items be wikilinked to other articles.
- Hope that helps to clarify my confusion. Thanks for checking up on articles to make sure they are quality productions.
- PS: Someone else has already added an expansion request to the article.
[edit] Request for comment on Category Redirect template
Because you are a member of WikiProject Categories, your input is invited on some proposed changes to the design of the {{Category redirect}} template. Please feel free to view the proposals and comment on the template talk page. --Russ (talk) 21:20, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:El monte city seal.PNG)
Thanks for uploading Image:El monte city seal.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:19, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Depeche mode barrel of a gun.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:Depeche mode barrel of a gun.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it may be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 13:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] California photo requests now by County
I saw your name at Photo Matching Service. I just spent the past few days moving all the California photo requests into County categories to make it easier for photographers to locate requests in the locations where they take photos. If you haven't already done so, please consider monitoring and adding your name to the list at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Los Angeles County, California. [edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Brevard zoo rhinos.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:Brevard zoo rhinos.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 02:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Depeche mode-get the balance right.ogg
Thanks for uploading Image:Depeche mode-get the balance right.ogg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
