[edit] Statement of Purpose

I am interested in teaching, learning, and studying about the Marc Okrand's Atlantean Language. I am fluent in it, after a few weeks of intense study and analysis.

KIKESE MAWK

"Me am no superman."

[edit] The Lord's Prayer

More Atlantean ready for use in the Atlantean Font. It's even written 'as the ox plows':

abgdewhiyklumnoprsSt tabtop gwisin
se ten ganesabyosirem metsosrebak
aniktop mohin kwam karokuses es mewilentop
gasorepak nisiwg potsolekpe kisam nihom
mohin demottem net kabersostem

yobag gwisin lewidekem bet dos tamar kwam
metnekark meg diwel nisiwg gasolekpe
lotanag gom gwisit kwam tanebe ad
honeg mowk tisiwg ben metsosesunatol
esugotot

This is a very rough translation into the Lord's Prayer. It is preceeded by the Atlantean abecedary I developed.

This is the first time I needed a word for 'heaven' or 'Heaven'. I chose "KAH-behr-sohs meh-REE-soh-y-buh-seh-nuhg" for 'heaven'. It means literally, "warning of-the-great-squids". Its fictional explaination is that the Atlanteans used the sky to predict the annual migrations of important animal populations. "Great squids" certainly could not be an equivalent to our 'giant squid', as these are too deep underwater to have an affect on the daily life of any ancient people. Its actual explaination, and it needs one because it's convoluted, is that it's one of the best matches I could find for the Proto-Indo-European root *kamer-, "vault" (Amer. Herit. Di., pgs. 1499, 1520). Thus, the fictional explaination is that *kamer- is a contraction of "KAH-" and "meh-R-". Cute, huh?

I actually prefer "DEH-moat NEE-shuhg", "Land of-God", as a seperate word for Heaven with "MEH-deh-reh-mos", "Great Enclosure" being my current pick for "sky". I chose ol' squid warning as the best Catholic commentaries I've read on that prayer present the literal Greek as meaning "sky". That is, if I remember correctly. Note also the thorough use of the imperative.

Here's a new, better translation that avoids the "multiple addresses" conundrum:

tabtop gwisin kunet tegultem net esenen anik mohin kwam karokuses es mewilen mohin masik epkelos gwisin kaperosag mohin demottem net kunet tegultem net lineg demotag tipimmil yahtem yobuses nalin gwisin gwisit naltem yobag nebet wemuttem bernot gim getanosenag gwisin lewidekem bet dos tamar kwam epkelosag gwisin lewid gim krakentem lotanag gom gwisit kwam tanebe ad lotanusesostem neb gwisit kwam genoh esugotot

I also get rid of the whole 'squid sign' thing in place of 'surface shelter', 'kunet tegultem'.
