The Episcopal Diocese of Washington is the ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Episcopal Bishop of Washington in the United States. The territory comprises the District of Columbia and the Maryland counties of Charles, St. Mary's, Prince George's and Montgomery. Its principal church is the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, unofficially known as Washington National Cathedral, located at Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues in Washington, D.C. Governed from Mount Saint Albans, the Episcopal Diocese of Washington is a member see of the greater Episcopal Church in the United States of America (ECUSA) which in turn is a member of the Anglican Communion.
The Rt. Rev. John Bryson Chane is the current and eighth bishop of Washington.
