The name Epidauria is derived from the first instance of medical tourism or health tourism that occurred thousands of years ago when Greek pilgrims traveled from all over the Mediterranean to the small territory in the Saronic Gulf called Epidauria. This territory was the sanctuary of the healing god Asklepios. Epidauria became the original travel destination for medical and health tourism. Years later the Mediterranean continues to be a destination for medical and dental services for travellers.
