Epanomi (Επανομή) is a small town in the Thessaloniki Prefecture, Greece (25 km from the city's center) and seat of the municipality of the same name, which also includes the village of Mesimeri. Its population is 8,671 (2001).
Epanomi has a long, historic path as it is the second oldest establishment in Macedonia (Greece) after Aggelohori (Greek: Αγγελοχώρι) (as archaeologist Theocharis Pazaras indicated with his work) since the area of Epanomi has been inhabited since the neolithic period.[citation needed] It is a small town which bases its economy on tourism and farming. It is well known among Greeks for its coasts and organized beautiful beaches (with a blue flag) easily approached from Thessaloniki. It is also known and visited for its tradition in good wine and tsipouro (a strong distilled alcoholic beverage made by fermentation of grape pomace).
