Album information
Enya
  • Released: 1987
  • Singles:
  • Two versions of this album were released. The original BBC Records release had a cover with a white border, as illustrated. Later reissued on Atlantic Records with a black-bordered cover. The contents of both versions are identical.
  • The original release was distributed by Atlantic Records. When reissued by Warner Music under the title The Celts, the original-release track entitled "Portrait" was replaced with a nearly identical (but longer and played with different instrumentation) piece of music entitled "Portrait (Out of the Blue)" which was first released as "Out of the Blue", the B-side of "Orinoco Flow".
  • U.S.: Platinum
Watermark
  • Released: September 1988
  • Singles:
  • The original release from WEA Records is eleven tracks long. The Reprise Records (U.S.) version is twelve tracks long with the extra track "Storms in Africa II."
  • The track "Storms in Africa II" is a faster tempo remix of "Storms in Africa" with English lyrics replacing the original Irish ones.
  • The release of the single "Exile" (1991) marked the use of the included tracks in the films Green Card and L.A. Story
  • U.S.: 4× Platinum

Shepherd Moons
  • Released: November 1991
  • Singles:

    • 1992: "Book of Days"
    • 1994: "Marble Halls"
  • Grammy for "Best New Age Album" (1993)
  • There are at least two versions of Shepherd Moons. The first release of 1991 featured a chant Irish version of the song "Book of Days." An English-language version of this song was subsequently used in the soundtrack of the movie Far and Away. Coinciding with that all pressings of the album -- as well as singles and collections -- from mid-1992 on include the English-language version in lieu of the original.
  • The single "Marble Halls" marked the use in the soundtrack of the film "The Age of Innocence". The B- Side track of these single "'S Fagaim Mo Bhaile" is an apparent transliteration of "'S Fágaim Mo Bhaile".
  • U.S.: 5× Platinum
  • UK: 4× Platinum
  • AUS: 3× Platinum
  • CAN: 3× Platinum

  • This album includes no Gaelic, but three songs are written in an invented language called Loxian, described by Enya and Roma Ryan as "a futuristic language from a distant planet."[2] This idea arose from writing "May it Be" and "Aníron" in Tolkien's Elvish languages.
  • In November 2006, a Special Christmas Edition version of this album was released, containing a second disc with four additional Christmas-themed tracks.
  • U.S.: Platinum
  • Europe: Platinum
  • UK: Silver
  • AUS: Platinum

In addition, a 1985 soundtrack album for The Frog Prince (also known as French Lesson) contains music composed by Enya, but not performed by her; a later CD release (1995) added two previously unreleased vocal tracks by her: "Dreams" and "The Frog Prince".

Enya's music has also appeared on several other albums. A 1983 release entitled Touch Travel included two early solo tracks, while two new songs appeared on the 2001 soundtrack album for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Enya allowed her label Reprise Records to release the soundtracks to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy as she contributed songs to the first film. However, they should not be counted as part of her main discography canon.

Enya also contributed vocals to recordings by Clannad, Sinéad O'Connor, and others.

[edit] Collections

[edit] Other releases (EPs and singles)

  • 6 Tracks (1989) This was released to mark the 10th anniversary of her debut album. The song "Out Of The Blue" was also released as "Portrait (Out Of The Blue)" on other albums.
  • Oíche Chiún (Silent Night) (1989) "Oíche Chiún" is an Irish language version of the traditional Christmas carol "Silent Night". (Chiún apparent misspelling of Chiúin.)
  • 3 Tracks EP (1990) This disc was issued as "Orinoco Flow" in Japan, but labeled as "3 Tracks EP" in English.
  • The Christmas EP (1994). Containing "Oiche Chiún" and four non-Christmas tracks, this Canadian EP has been perennially reissued each year in that country since its original release.
  • Christmas Secrets (2006) - released in Canada in November 2006, this EP contains the four Christmas songs that were also included in the Special Christmas Edition of Amarantine.
  • Sounds of the Season (2006) - a Christmas album released in the United States with six songs. It was released in Canada under the name "Christmas Secrets" and contained only four songs. It was released in other countries in a box set with Amarantine as "Amarantine: Special Christmas Edition". "Adeste Fideles" was released as a single.[citation needed]
