The first responder to someone's new comment should enter the response just beneath the new comment (instead of using the above + tab) and indent the response by starting with a colon like this :. Any second responder, indent further by starting with two colons like this :: and any third responder, start with three colons like this ::: and so forth. If we don't follow these practices, the result is jumbled mess.
[edit] Reason for deleting the reference added by 68.230.157.121
68.230.157.121: The reference that you added was:
<ref>"Environmental Engineering Law" as defined by Stephen R. Muschiano, MSCEE, JD, P.E., Contact Mr. Muschiano at stephenm@crossmaneng.com or at 151 Centerville Road, Warwick, Rhode Island. All rights reserved. 2007.</ref>
It was deleted for two reasons:
- Wikipedia does not allow the use of any copyrighted or other material for which "all rights are reserved". See WP:Copyrights.
- A reference is a citation to some verifiable book, journal, news article or website that verifies or validates some statement of fact in an article. The above reference is not such a reference. See WP:Citing sources.
I am deleting the reference. I suggest that you simply add a sentence in the text that states "The term Environmental engineering law was first defined by Stephen R. Muschiano of the United States" ... and without adding his email address or postal address, because that could be interpreted as advertising his services which is also not allowed on Wikipedia.
I know that newcomers have a hard time learning all the policies of Wikipedia and adhering to them (and I went through that myself), but they are there for a purpose and we must follow them. Regards, - mbeychok 16:42, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Creating non-existent articles and excess capitalization
What you have now done in the article Environmental engineering law by the reverting the changes I made to Wikify the article is create a great number of non-existent articles, as for example Baseline Survey and Building Revaluation. That's why they are displayed in red. Existing articles like Environmental engineering law are displayed in blue. Unless you intend to create all those red, non-existent articles yourself ... it will be years before they are all created by others.
Also, Wiki policy is to only capitalize the first letter of an article, as for example in the Environmental engineering law article unless it is a proper name such U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. For another example, your Soil Contamination displays as red because it is non-existent but Soil contamination is blue because it already exists. The same policy applies to using excess capitalization in the text of an article.
I am not going to revert your incorrect usage again. I strongly urge you to study other Wikipedia articles as well as the Wikipedia editing tutorials and you will see that your are not following Wikipedia policy. Sooner or later an Administrator will admonish you for not doing so. Why not accept some good advice before that happens? - mbeychok 00:34, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
