Envy & Other Sins are a four piece band from Birmingham, England, who came to fame by winning Channel 4's nation-wide talent show mobileAct unsigned. They were the winners of the show, with which they won a £1,000,000 record contract with A&M Records. The contract allows them to release one album and two singles. Their first single, "Highness", was released on March 3, 2008, and their debut album, We Leave At Dawn, was released on March 31, 2008. They have announced a tour for the near future featuring dates with The Hoosiers.

The band have said (quoted from mobileAct unsigned) that their style is depicted in Birmingham, in the industrial/Victorian age of the city, and has nothing to do with Marks & Spencers.

[edit] Controversy

It has been suggested that the band's releases under their new contract suffered due to the fact that none of their songs are allowed airplay on Radio 1 in spite of the warm reception and positive reviews by the wider music media community. This is because of a conflict of interests with Radio 1 DJ and presenter of 'Mobile Act Unsigned' Jo Whiley's contract with the BBC.
