Environmental philosophy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Environmental philosophy is a branch of philosophy dealing with the intersection of human activity and the natural environment. One of the most important areas of environmental philosophy is environmental ethics. It also includes environmental aesthetics, environmental theology, and indeed all the branches of philosophical investigation (e.g., epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of science, aesthetics, etc.).

Environmental philosophy has been impacted by individuals with a range of backgrounds, reminiscent of the approach of the natural philosophy, natural religion, and natural history traditions. Interestingly, the list of environmental philosophers includes biologists, ecologists and other scientists who have considered and written extensively about the environment and the human impact and relation to the environment.
