Entel

Entel (Acronym for Empresa Nacional de TELecomunicaciones) is a Chilean telecommunications company and Telefónica CTC's fiercest competitor. To foreigners, Entel is best known for the 127 meter high Torre Entel (Entel Tower) that rises high above central Santiago and constitutes one of the city's main landmarks.
Entel is a corporation with several subsidiaries:

Entel PCS s a Mobile Operator. It has about 40% of the market share. It was the first American operator to launch a GSM in 1997. Since the year 2000 the Entel PCS network supports GPRS and since 2003 it supports EDGE.

Entel UK Ltd. is a UK based manufacturer of two way radios. Entel UK Ltd. specialises in selling professional communications equipment, mostly for business use, to a worldwide network of dealers and distributors. Entel are well known for their submersible (waterproof) HT Series, which is also available as an Intrinsically Safe model (ATEX or USTC certified), and their smaller HX Series.
Entel are currently upgrading their entire product range with the launch of the new HT Series 2.0 and HX Series 2.0. With this launch of new radios Entel are introducing features never before seen in two way radios such as Bluetooth and GPS. Entel are also launching MPT1327 trunked versions of both product ranges, and a new GMDSS radio.
