Help with this template Comments: edit – history – watch – refresh For someone coming in from the cold, getting hit with a huge amount of math is worthless. Would you all please learn to speak English? How does an ensemble differ from a set of random variables? At least give a high school introduction!

Confirmed stub status and changed to high importance Useful ideas might be:

• addition of a description or link to angle bracket notation for ensemble averaging
• an example of an ensemble averaged parameter
• applications of ensemble averages in statistical mechanics, eg pair correlation functions
