Enrique Adolfo Jiménez

Enrique Adolfo Jiménez Brin (1888 - 28 April 1970) was provisional president of Panama from June 15, 1945 to August 7, 1948. He belonged to the Liberal Party.

Jiménez Brin was appointed private secretary of President Belisario Porras at the age of 25, deputy minister of state, president of the National Bank of Panama and ambassador of Panama in Washington, D.C. He also served as Vice President.

In June of 1945, he was appointed president of the Republic of Panama by the Constituent National Assembly and prolonged his period in office for almost four years. He governed until October 1, 1948. During his period the international airport of Tocumen was constructed, the Colon Free Zone was created; the Felix Olivares school in Chiriquí and Abel Bravo school in Colon were also part of his creation; the School of Mechanical Currency Arts; new buildings for the Artes y Oficos school. President Jiménez was the promoter of the university city, the Hotel El Panama (later the Panama Hilton). The statutes of education and university autonomy were written in his administration.

He was considered one of Panama's greatest presidents and the patriarch of one Panama's most recognized and honorable families.
