[edit] Northumbrian smallpipes

The Northumbrian smallpipes should be mentioned. Badagnani (talk) 20:46, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

The only trick is that the Northumbrian bagpipes indisputably existed, physical examples from various stages of development are in museums, and there's a (barely) unbroken tradition of playing that dates back centuries. That puts the NSP in a totally different framework than these. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally cool with all kinds of reconstruction efforts, but I don't want to build a "false history" by getting too optimistic with the article. I added every link I could find to articles mentioning "Lancashire bagpipes", and it'd be great to do that with any other claimed pipes. I figure as long as we stick to published materials, and remain open to the controversy involved, it could be a really informative article. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I added a mention up top. Badagnani (talk) 20:57, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Iconography

Can we get iconography of English bagpipes from old paintings, etc.? Badagnani (talk) 21:00, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

OK, there are some here:

Looks like a lot from Dorset. Badagnani (talk) 21:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Need a section summarizing the iconography in the four image links added to the article. Badagnani (talk) 21:22, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
