English Beef and Lamb Executive

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX) is part of the United Kingdom Meat and Livestock Commission and promotes assured quality beef and lamb. It defines its role as being "to contribute to the long-term profitability and sustainability of the English beef and lamb industries by listening, reporting and delivering measurable benefits".

[edit] "Beefy and Lamby"

The former professional cricketers Allan "Lamby" Lamb and Ian "Beefy" Botham have advertised Quality Standard English lamb and beef for the English Beef and Lamb Executive using the play on their names as a selling point. The cartoon characters of Beefy and Lamby have featured in television and print advertisements.

The Government funded website beefyandlamby.co.uk was assessed for possible closure in January 2007, as part of a streamlining of government web sites.
