[edit] Published vs. translated
I've noticed some edit warring going on lately over whether fan-translated games ought to be in this category. Perhaps it should be renamed to "English-localized H games", "H-games published in English" or some other less ambiguous wording if the intent is that only officially or commercially translated games should belong? It seems to me that fan translations are translations nonetheless so, as things stand, those reverting such category additions are in the wrong. -Seventh Holy Scripture (talk) 01:19, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
- Fan translations do not count as they also violate copyrights. We don't consider fansubs/dubs/scanslations when determining if an anime or manga series has an English version, and we do not consider fan-translated games that violate policies to be something for inclusion here. A rename might be a way to fix it, though I've only seen one person edit warring over it myself, and maybe making the description clearer on the front, which I've done. - I dispute this. There's hardly any user who has attempted to list fansubs as official translations of anime, so the argument is irrelevant. Not categorizing Tsukihime as translated to English is counter-productive and WP:LAWYER-ing. --SABEREXCALIBUR! 13:20, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
For what it's worth, my original intent in creating this category was to include all games with English translations, official or not. The idea was that articles listed in this category are ones which an English speaker who does not know Japanese could contribute to. — PyTom (talk) 20:32, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
