This category is designed to contain articles about each cricket season in the 18th Century. Cricket enjoyed continuous development until 1810, after which it was severely disrupted by the Napoleonic War. From 1815, a slow recovery began.
For practical reasons, the term 18th Century is here used to cover the whole period from the first recorded "great match" in 1697 until the end of the Napoleonic War in 1815.
Details were sparse at the beginning of the 18th Century and so the first 25 years are covered by one article: 1697 to 1725 English cricket seasons.
From 1726 onwards, newspaper reports about cricket became more common and gradually provided more detail. The article called History of cricket 1726 - 1815 is a general overview of the period but contains within it a table of links to each season.
