Bessellieu made his acting debut as a soloist in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar with community theater group The Pennington Players. He continued to work with the Players doing children’s theater, most notably playing Edmund in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Taking a break from acting, Bessellieu found interest in documenting the backstage process and capturing the Player’s performances to DVD. He also helped his father produce the NJ premiere of The Legend of Redwall Abbey, a children’s opera based on the book by Brian Jacques. In High School, Bessellieu returned to acting. Sophomore year, he performed in his own black box adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s short story Eumenides in the Fourth Floor Lavatory. His peak performance occurred during his junior year playing Mortimer in the classic Kesselring comedy Arsenic and Old Lace.
