[edit] Spoof

But I have to ask is this a spoof entry? Nicely done if so.... patrickw 14:59, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Have you checked the references? The IUCN certainly appears to believe in the species, and the National Geographic backs up the claim of there being no extant females. What made you believe this is a spoof entry, anyway? GeeJo (t)(c) • 15:11, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Sure I believe that it's real. But any entry which lists a species as E. woodii and then says that only males exist should leave you a little suspicious. patrickw 15:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Hehe, I suppose the name really is somewhat felicitous. GeeJo (t)(c) • 15:28, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Change of sex

There is no mention of the possibility that one of the 600 or so clones could change their sex, therefore enabling sexual reproduction. It is known to happen to cycads among other plants. Maybe someone with more literature on the subject could write something about this? Again a rather E. Woodian topic =) Sophronitis 22:53, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
