Encore Series 2002 is a series of recordings from The Who's 2002 American tour. It contains soundboard recordings of all 23 concerts from the tour, available as 2-CD individual shows or as part of a box set, and begins a practice that The Who would follow in 2004 and 2006. The encore series was conceived, developed, and masterminded by TheMusic.com's VP/Chief Creative Officer Coleman R. Brice with the notion that despite declining CD sales fans would usually want to have a memento of their concert and listening experience. Several months later Clear Channel announced that Live Nation would be doing something comparable.
