The track was written by Enrique Iglesias, and because expectations were higher for Iglesias sophomore record, the single became very successful in the charts. The song was the second to debut at number 1 in the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart, the first being "El Palo" by Juan Gabriel in 1995.

The track debuted in the United States Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart at number 1 in February 01, 1997[1] and spent twelve weeks at the summit[2], falling to number 2 the following week and then to number 24, to finally exit the charts in its 14th week.
