Emyr Humphreys

Emyr Humphreys (April 15, 1919 -) is a leading Welsh novelist, poet and author. He was born in Prestatyn and studied history at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. His first novel Little Kingdom was published in 1946. He won the Somerset Maugham Prize in 1953 for his novel Hear and Forgive. Other works include: A Toy Epic in 1958, published in Welsh and English, and won the 1958 Hawthornden Prize; a cultural history of Wales, The Taliesin Tradition 1983; a collection of stories Old People are a Problem 2003.
