Emon Chatterjee was born on July 2, 1989, in West Bengal, India. He later moved to Calcutta, India. Emon studied in K.V. Airforce Barrackpore till grade 12 ( for his school info go to Indian idol website and his chat transcript). He had always been fond of music, even during his childhood. His father, Gopal Chatterjee (may be Anjan Chatterjee- not sure of the name), had always taught him the wonders of music. His passion of music brought him to the auditions to Indian Idol. With his beautiful voice, he made it up till the second runner-up of Indian Idol Season 3. Emon participated in more recent reality shows called Ustaadon Ka Ustaad. Emon is currently working with Anu Malik and he is also working on releasing his first solo album soon.

[edit] Indian Idol 3 Journey
Emon was discovered as a contestant on the top hindi reality music show, Indian Idol 3. Emon has always been a strong contestant on the show. With the praise of the judges, and public's voting, Emon had reached to the top 3 of Indian Idol 3.
[edit] AUDITIONS
Emon auditioned for Indian Idol when they were held in Calcutta (also known as Kolkata), India. Emon tragically felt very ill at the first day of the audition so he was told to come back the second day. A doctor was called to the set of Indian Idol, where Emon was checked and treated. Despite Emon's sickness, he gave his best at the audition. Singing Ya Ali, and then Mere Mitwa. Anu Malik said that he had tremendous potential and the judges finally let Emon receive his ticket to Mumbai.
