Thanks for your nice note about Dan. Unfortunately I'm in Tucson, getting ready for a 110-degree summer, instead of Blue Hill with Dan or wherever it is he hangs out in Maine. (I think it's Blue Hill -- I spent the summer of '76 there and didn't know Dan was a few miles down the road....)
We were at Exeter together, class of '59, and lived in the same dorm. Then saw each other occasionally at Harvard but not too often....
Yep, it's a topic for Philosophes like Dan how we think of people as certain images. I have a picture in my mind's eye of Dan as a 17-year-old. If you send me your email address I'll scan in his yearbook pic and send it to you -- then you can really whap him over the head....
As to my EQ stories and whether you read them -- there were probably about a dozen, some about Commissaire Tama, a fat Tahitian police chief, the others about Joe Caneili, a private eye in Tahiti....
