Suggested for additional material: studies at Berklee College of Music (class of 1976)[1]; work in New Orleans leading to her 'discovery' and promotion by Herb Ellis; Charlottesville sessions with Larry Coryell [2]; influence of workshop she conducted in foundation of West Australia Jazz Guitar Society [3]; death in Australia at the Connells Point home of musician Ed Gaston and his wife Di [4].
[edit] Cause of death
I just reverted back to "heart failure" for her cause of death, from "heroin overdose". There seem to be plenty of "web rumor"-class sources for the latter, but nothing reliable enough to make it open to controversy (in the Wikipedia world, in my opinion). Not to claim that the other web sources on her death seem all that reliable either, but all the really serious bios say 'heart attack', and the heroin idea seems to show up in web forums and the odd personal blog. If we can get something approaching a reliable source about the heroin, then by all means lets include it. Studerby 22:45, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- This is a problem, I agree. Remler's family reported her death as "heart failure", which is like saying "she died", and covered up the overdose. Meanwhile, there are eyewitnesses -- such as the people whose house she died at -- who say it was an OD. So all of the "official" sources are wrong. I don't know how to remedy this problem within the Wikipedia rules.Verklempt 01:33, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

- FWIW the Penguin Guide & Rough Guide to Jazz both list heart attack as the cause of death. -- But yes, within the jazz world the common knowledge or opinion or rumour is that it was an OD. --ND 00:26, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

- If you can find a specific quote or paraphrase from the alleged "witnesses" in a reliable source to the effect that the death was directly caused by overdose, then you can just throw it in in the form of "Her death has been officially attributed to heart failure.1,2, etc.. However, so-and-so, in the newspaper/magazine/book so-and-so, attributed the death to a heroin OD." If you can't find anything reliable, you MUST leave it out. Period. BTW, we all ultimately die of heart failure anyway. The causes of heart failure are another question. It's interesting that there is still such an extraordinary stigma attached to drug abuse and overdose , as if it's a form of weakness of will or moral failing. This attitude it scientifically antiquated and quite repugnant, actually.--Francesco Franco 07:27, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Everyone knows why she died, let's just leave it at heart failure shall we? Nick mallory (talk) 06:15, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Obits??
I don't see any obituaries? Where is she buried exactly? --Francesco Franco 15:12, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Remler Catwalk.png
Image:Remler Catwalk.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
