Emilio Lombardi (1881-1956), a Maltese author. At the age of 15 years Lombardi started to use his talent of writing stories. And at the age of 19 years he published the first book of his series.
He wrote about different subjects, but he is most remembered for his novels. Emilio Lombardi wrote the novels to teach people, so his books are good for all the family, from children to adults.
In that era the Maltese language was not written with in today's format, but Lombardi always wrote in the language roles of that period. But after his life the novels of Lombardi were republished and reedited into a 'Maltese of the Community', that is the Maltese language format of today.
He wrote for more than 50 years, from 1896 until 1946. Emilio Lombardi was a modest writer and he addressed his work as 'ix-xogħol miżeru tiegħi' (my miserable work). For Lombardi, writing was a hobby, indeed, in the beginning of his books and novels, his signature bore the epithet "id-delittant" i.e. the amateur.
