Dr. Emile Dorian is a character from Batman: The Animated Series voiced by Joseph Maher.

[edit] Bio

Dr. Emile Dorian is perhaps one of the most intelligent men in Gotham City. He was a revolutionary in his scientific work and discoveries. He was a prominent Gotham doctor in genetics until his controversial studies forced him to leave Gotham City and inhabit a small island that he bought years before. There he was able to perform his experiments without fear that the authorities would stumble onto his work. He has had many confrontations with Batman and the Gotham authorities that has led him back to Gotham many times, but always manages to escape back to his small island to continue his work.

In his debut, the episode "Tyger, Tyger," he had his gorilla assistant Garth (voiced by Jim Cummings) kidnap Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman) and Dorian injected her with a serum that turned her into an actual catwoman. Dorian was also responsible for creating Tygrus, a half human half cat creature. Batman fought Dorian once and his lab was destroyed and Selina was returned to normal thanks to an antidote saved from the lab by Tygrus.

There was a comic book based on the cartoon which had an issue called "House of Dorian."[citation needed] In this issue, a freak accident has freed Dr. Emile Dorian from prison and plans to recapture Selina Kyle. To do so, he ends up duping Tygrus into working for him again as well as getting Anthony Romulus and the third Man-Bat (Dr. Stefen Parry, a man who had stolen the Man-Bat mutagen from Kirk Langstrom) to work with him. They were defeated by Batman.
