[edit] CfD nomination of Category:Professors at Baylor University
I have nominated the discussion page. Thank you. BencherliteTalk 19:43, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
for renaming to . Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at- And I have also nominated Category:Par-time professors at Baylor University for merging into the yet-to-be-created BencherliteTalk 19:52, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note. I wouldn't think that breaking down faculty by status of associate/full-time/emeritus etc would command much support, since someone could easily achieve all such statuses in the course of their career and it would lead to the dreaded "category clutter" at the bottom of an article. This information is better left to the individual articles, or an article such as List of Dartmouth College faculty (a Featured List). Regards, BencherliteTalk 08:29, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category creation - a suggestion
You may have noticed that some categories you've created recently have been nominated for renaming, deletion or merger by me and by other editors, e.g. Category:Professors at Baylor University, Category:Drivers, Category:Ferns - not everyone lets the category creator know as they should, but you should be able to see the nominations on your watchlist, assuming that you add categories you create to your watchlist, that is. You may also have seen that I've played around with some articles that you've categorized, e.g. Worldshop, as I thought it was rather unnecessary to create a category tree of Category:Shops / Category:Types of shops for one article, when Category:Retailers already existed. I'm not sure that we need a Category:Statements category tree for one article, Business plan but I don't have time to look further at that at the moment.
This is just a suggestion / request that you spend a little bit more time considering whether the category you want already exists under a related name (looking at the main article for a topic is a useful idea, which is how I found Category:Retailers through Shop), and if the category exists, whether there's an existing naming convention to follow. Please don't think I'm having a go at you: category creation is an often-unappreciated contribution but is essential work. With a bit more practice, you'll be flying! Wikipedia:Naming conventions (categories) is a good read if you haven't seen it already. Please drop me a line if I can help further. Regards, and happy editing! - Yep. Got it figured (edit conflict..) It is already in a subcat of Category:Cyatheaceae which is in Category:Pteridophyta which is the fern category: -- Alan Liefting-talk- 08:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

- Emesee, if you look at Category:Pteridophyta you'll see that Category:Ferns was a rather unnecessary creation, hence Alan's actions in removing it from the article and nominating Category:Ferns for deletion. Regards, BencherliteTalk 08:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] No content in Category:National orchestras
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:National orchestras, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:National orchestras has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:National orchestras, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. CSDWarnBot 21:30, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have also tagged Category:Shops and Category:Types of shops for the same reason and as per my previous messages. Regards, BencherliteTalk 21:33, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Elevation (psychology)
Elevation (psychology) was transwikied to Wiktionary as it consisted solely of a dictionary definition of the term. I can recreate and userify the article for you to work of if you want, but if it's reposted to the mainspace in the state in which it was deleted, it will be renominated for deletion as inappropriate content. — iridescent 01:13, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
You left a rather cryptic message, is there something else? Carlossuarez46 03:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent RfA
I'm sorry, but I've closed your Request for adminship prematurely. Simply put, you've only got 370 edits on Wikipedia; while edit count isn't the only determining factor, and numerous people have their own personal standards that they judge RfA candidates by, there was no chance that the RfA was going to pass.
I'm sorry about this, and hope you don't take it personally. If you continue to contribute to the project in a positive fashion, I'm confident that you could possibly run a successful RfA in the future. You may want to consider submitting yourself to Wikipedia:Editor review for feedback on where to get some good experience, and when you're ready for RfA again, there's a great Wikipedia:Admin coaching program for you to use, as well as a guide to requests for adminship.
I understand that you're an admin on another wiki, but generally speaking, there isn't a direct flow of understanding from one wiki to the other; instructions and policies can very wildly. If you have any other questions about becoming an administrator, please don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! EVula // talk // ☯ // 09:22, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Category:Development banks
Hi Emesee - I placed a CFD on a category you created, Category:Development banks, because it's been empty for months, apparently. If you'd like to join the discussion and talk about the category you'd be welcome. --Lquilter (talk) 13:07, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Competition sailplanes
Do we really need this category?--Vierzehn (talk) 23:08, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- Most of the items in Category:Sailplanes are competition sailplanes; there's no need to duplicate this. --Rlandmann (talk) 00:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- I provoked a CfD-tag being placed on category:competition sailplanes. --Vierzehn (talk) 12:30, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: your post at WP:VPM
(copied from VPM) If it was changed to a redirect and then deleted, it would still be in the deletion log. The obvious explanation is that you haven't got the page name exactly right. Unfortunately it's difficult to find deleted articles without the exact name. Did you ever edit the article? If so, an admin could look at your deleted contributions.
