Pavan Srinath, styling himself sometimes as Emeldil (born December 25, 1986) is currently a final year student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras at Chennai, majoring in Biotechnology.

Pavan was born and brought up in Bangalore, and did much of his schooling at Sri Kumaran Children's Home, Bangalore. He finished school and cleared the Joint Entrance Examination and joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras choosing to major in Aerospace engineering. A semester into the course, he realised that aerospace did not match well with his aptitude and that he was not overly fond of engineering of any kind. Thus he turned to Biotechnology as a means to an end, to try and get into the area of biological/biomedical sciences.

His hobbies include reading, television, cinema, photography, history and writing. He is fond of writing all things from free verse and one-liners to fan-fiction. He maintains a blog where he likes to put up his photos, ramblings and some pieces of fiction. In the summer of 2007 he worked at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and visited Washington, DC, and in the summer of 2006 he worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and visited Chicago and Minneapolis.

In his free time, he loves to go on long treks, and also visit ancient temples and monuments.

In 2008, he plans to move to the United States for graduate school in Biophysics.

His favourite authors include; JRR Tolkien, Euripides, George RR Martin, Isaac Asimov, Robert Jordan, and David Gemmell. He doesn't mind reading young adult fiction when nothing else is available. He is slightly unhappy that all but one of his favourite authors are dead.

He started using his wikipedia account in earnest in March, 2008 on realizing that his photographs were good enough to be put up on wikipedia. Soon he plans to start adding and editing articles as well. One of his short term aims is to get a Featured picture within a month's time.

At some point when he learns enough about it, he wants to write articles on:

  • Warfare in Ancient Greece
  • Possible historical basis present behind myths such as the Mahabharata, Ramayana and the Illiad.
  • Expand and add new articles on the Nilgiris in particular and South Indian mountain ranges in general.
