[edit] The Seafood Bandage

Maybe this should be added to the page. http://www.popsci.com/popsci/medicine/279c849101acb010vgnvcm1000004eecbccdrcrd.html http://www.beyondbulbs.com/Celox-A-Granular-Hemostat-pr-177.html?gclid=CO3vr-aL9osCFQrCSgodGQzrtA —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Craigboy (talkcontribs) 03:31, 5 May 2007 (UTC).

This would be covered in the section under clotting agents, where this type of Haemostatic product are - it would be best added as a single sentence with reference to support this section. Owain.davies 06:38, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merger with tourniquet

  • Oppose - Tourniquet should definitely have its own article. Not everyone searching for tourniquet is seeking information on how to control external bleeding. The two paragraphs about tourniquets in Emergency bleeding control is inadequate to cover all the uses of tourniquets, as are the few sentences in tourniquet. Additionally, the use of tourniquets for venipuncture and surgury are not appropriate to be mentioned in Emergency bleeding control. Rather than merging, I'd suggest reviving the previous tourniquet article (located here), and updating it with more appropriate links to venipuncture, surgical tourniquet, and emergency bleeding control. I realize that Emergency bleeding control was created from merging several articles together, but some information from the old tourniquet article was lost and should be brought back. --Scott Alter 02:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Comment - Your comments are certainly sensible, but tourniquet will need some improvement. OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 08:49, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
I will start working on cleaning up Emergency tourniquet. In order to preserve the edits to the current Tourniquet article, I'll request a history merge at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. I realize that this isn't really when a history merge should be used, but there are only 2 overlapping edits, that were internal link changes. I think this is better than having a separate, unused duplicate tourniquet article just to preserve a small history. --Scott Alter 18:48, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Anthony Appleyard, an admin at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen, thought it would be best to keep tourniquet, as well as bring back emergency tourniquet (which he proceeded to do). Therefore, I'll improve tourniquet and add links to the appropriate articles. --Scott Alter 21:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't think that emergency tourniquet is going to be a useful article, as it is mostly how to. I agree that tourniquet deserves its own article, but emergency tourniquet is too far. OwainDavies (about)(talk) edited at 22:01, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Emergency tourniquet isn't really a how-to - it just describes how tourniquet use varies in different situations. The most how-to-like section is "When to use a tourniquet," but that could easily be reworded. I also don't think there needs to be a separate article for "emergency tourniquet," but that most of the content there should be in the "tourniquet" article. I'd suggest you say something in response at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. My request was denied, as Anthony Appleyard thought there were parallel histories (I don't consider 2 minor edits in 2 weeks as an unmergable history) and he liked the distinction of separate articles for surgical tourniquets and emergency tourniquets. --Scott Alter 23:06, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
