Embarcadero, San Diego

The Embarcadero in San Diego, California, USA runs along the San Diego harbor on the east side of San Diego Bay. It is home to the USS Midway on Navy Pier, the San Diego cruise terminal on B Street Pier, the Star of India (ship) at the Maritime Museum, and various restaurants and shops from the North Embarcadero down through Seaport Village.

The Embarcadero sits on property administered by the Port of San Diego and is being redeveloped through the Joint Powers Authority (JPA). The JPA is composed of the City of San Diego, Center City Development Corporation (CCDC), and the Port of San Diego. The project is called the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, a multi-phased redevelopment of the waterfront in downtown San Diego. This redevelopment project will add thousands of trees and increase needed open public space, while continuing San Diego's tradition of having a working waterfront.^[1]

In addition to the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, the Port is also redeveloping its two cruise piers along the Embarcadero, continuing and possibly increasing an already common sight of cruise ships in San Diego Bay.
