[edit] Biography

Emarosa was originally signed to Standby Records but due to releasing troubles with their EP they signed to Rise Records alongside bands such as Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Before Their Eyes, The Devil Wears Prada, and Catherine. They were originally named Corsets are Cages, but changed to their current name about a month before they released their EP. During the Corsets Are Cages era, they recorded three songs. Corsets are cages were originally a 4-piece post-hardcore band. They then got rid of 2 members and picked up 4 more. Chris Roberts and Mike Bryant were the only original members until Mike Bryant left the band to join another band called Gwen Stacy (who currently left Gwen Stacy as of 2007). Chris Roberts departed, then joining The Revival Sound. Chris Roetter replaced Roberts in Emarosa. Then the guitarist that replaced Mike Bryant, Madison, recently quit Emarosa which now Jonas of At Daggers Drawn replaced him on guitar. On January 26, 2008, Emarosa posted their newest and first official song with Jonny Craig titled, "Set It Off Like Napalm."[1] This song received thousands of plays within minutes of Emarosa posting it on their myspace page. Within the myspace 24 hour period, "Set It Off Like Napalm" received more than 50,000 plays, the all time high for a Rise Records debut song. This was a very significant day for Emarosa since they never had that many views and plays before this song, and publicity altogether. Every new song that has been added has had similar success as "Set It Off Like Napalm" within the myspace 24 hour period.[2]

Emarosa has toured with the bands Fiora, Akissforjersey, Before Their Eyes, and The Wedding. Jonny Craig was also co-lead singing with Silverstein during the month of Emarosa's full length recording in Portland, Oregon. They will be touring with A Skylit Drive, Sky Eats Airplane, and Breathe Carolina beginning on July 2nd.

They released their first EP on May 1, 2007, titled This Is Your Way Out through Rise Records. Their debut full length album will be released July 8, 2008, titled Relativity also through Rise Records.[3]

Three new songs from their new album Relativity have been posted on their myspace and another new song has been posted on Rise Record's myspace page titled "What's A Clock Without The Batteries?".[4] Prior to that song, Jerry Graham (founder of Rise Records), accidentally leaked another new song from Emarosa's new album but quickly deleted it even though it had thousands of plays at the time. The entire album title's have been leaked by an unknown source on Absolutepunk.net.[5]

[edit] Addition of Jonny Craig

Jonny Craig (formally vocalist for Dance Gavin Dance) announced on November 19, 2007 that he joined the band after the departure of their singer Chris Roetter. With the dramatic addition of Jonny Craig, Emarosa hence changed their genre category from Post-Hardcore to Experimental/R&B. In recent a review of the new album Relativity by Interpunk.com, the editor stated that Jonny Craig might have the best voice in the scene today, and after hearing the new album, it is very hard to argue that.[6] Most of the members of Emarosa have Christian beliefs, with Jonny being the only Atheist in the band. During Jonny Craig's time with Dance Gavin Dance, he was known as being socially awkward around them, since they did not have anything in common but the music. He had been picked up by Dance Gavin Dance early 2005 after he left Ghost Runner on Third even though they had released an EP with Jonny. During 2005, Dance Gavin Dance did not have a lead singer and Jonny Craig was the perfect fit for their style of music. Jonny left Dance Gavin Dance after a show in New Jersey for his own personal reasons and the constant tension between him and the rest of the members. He toured with A Skylit Drive for a couple of days until Emarosa was interested in him because their lead singer, Chris Roetter, had left during that time also. It is also thought that Jonny Craig was going to join A Skylit Drive during their tours in November, but A Skylit Drive's singer, Jordan, was sick during those shows. Jonny joined Emarosa about a week before Jordan had officially left A Skylit Drive.
