EMAP Liverpool

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EMAP Liverpool is a local commercial digital radio multiplex in the United Kingdom, which serves the Liverpool area.

The service launched on 28th February 2001. EMAP Liverpool is transmitted on frequency block 11B from the St. John's Beacon in central Liverpool, Billinge Hill (near St Helens) and Hope Mountain (just south of Hawarden and near Caergwrle in Flintshire) transmitters.

EMAP Digital Radio was awarded the licence on February 10 2000, having been the only application by the closing date of November 9 1999. Once local adoption of digital radios had reached 31%, another transmitter at Moel-y-Parc would be used. This never happened. The licence was advertised on July 20 1999.

Radio City 96.7, the main commercial station in the area, and situated directly beneath one of the DAB transmitters, is owned by EMAP.
